Kimberly Balla at Wallflower Custom Framing

November 9, 2015

Wallflower Custom Framing will be showing work by Kimberly Balla this Thursday, November 12 for Art Walk.

Kimberly Balla Graduated with a BFA from Western Washington University in 2013. Kimberly is entranced by paint and its physical properties. Her work focuses on the fluidic chemical process she has come to know and harness as her own. Her method involves several viscous layers of paint and metallic pigments which emerge and submerge as the chemicals rapidly erode canals throughout the surface. Kimberly focuses on how paint moves and changes on its own and how she can manipulate that change.

Kimberly had her first solo exhibition at Lucia Douglas Gallery in 2013. She has since taken part in many group exhibitions including, Nature in the Balance: Artists Interpreting Climate Change at the Whatcom Museum, 2014 CVG Show at Collective Visions Gallery, and Undertones at Addison Gallery. Kimberly has also co-curated two international EAFA Gallery exhibitions, and won awards from EAFA and Heart Gallery including 1st place in EAFA 2015 International Abstract Exhibition.
Kimberly works out of her studio at the Inscape Arts Building in Seattle, WA
