RE/MAX Juntion presents Sarah Lavin! Come be to see the art, and enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages.

Artist Statement:
As a builder and metal fabricator I am interested in the intimate properties of materials: their surface, weight and strength. As a sculptor I am influenced by the materials I see around me: steel, concrete, tarpaper, drywall tape. I endlessly search for, find, construct, reclaim and modify these materials, seeking new relationships between them.

I have been a metalworker in various capacities for over 15 years. I have fabricated sculptures for prominent artists, worked in a foundry creating sculpture and signage from start to finish and ran public art projects in SE Seattle high school and middle schools.

Presently my husband and myself operate a custom modern home design/build company. Our shop space is in the SODO area in Seattle, under the West Seattle bridge.

I weld, fabricate, forge and cast metal as well as cast, fuse and slump glass. However, I have the inclination to salvage and these materials often make an appearance in my work.

I have my own line of jewelry and furniture. Presently I am represented by Core Gallery in the Tashiro Kaplan building, an artist run gallery in the Pioneer Square area of Seattle. My work and wares can be seen at The Seattle Design Center, Ghost gallery on Capitol Hill, Twilight Artist collective in West Seattle and Matter Gallery in Olympia.
