SIX EASY STEPS TO JOIN THE ART WALK!

  1. Register your business via online link to be part of the Art Walk, including annual or quarterly payment 
  2. Select your artist: Someone you know or have seen before, or someone from the Art Walk Artist Library (approximately by first of month)
  3. Arrange a visit or call with your artist to discuss the exhibit, reception and hanging the art. See Best Practice PDF for more details.
  4. Provide Artist Info to the Art Walk team via the online Artist Info form (see below) – or have your artist do this – to give us info to market the event. Deadline: the day before the event.
  5. Promote Art Walk and the exhibit on social media, your email list, word of mouth, and Art Walk marketing materials.
  6. Host a reception on Art Walk night!

STEP-BY-STEP ART WALK ONBOARDING

REGISTER

When businesses register and pay their dues, they will be featured in the following marketing:

  • Website
  • Monthly blog post (sample)
  • Social media promotion on Facebook and Instagram, including livestream videos on Art Walk night
  • Google map linked to the blog
  • Quarterly marketing poster with QR code
  • Printed walking map (when State restrictions are lifted)

We recommend that businesses join for the full year to reduce administrative effort for you and us – but it’s always possible to register quarterly.

Deadline for 2022 Q1: December 8 (or as soon as possible) If you prefer to register quarterly, we will email requests before each new quarter in March, June, and September.

Be an Art Walk partner! We are looking for businesses to make a difference in our community by helping fund ongoing arts programming, artist education workshops, monthly artist forums, and community outreach collateral. Click here to learn more and sign up!

HOST AN ARTIST

Businesses can host art all month long during business hours or opt to stay open on Second Thursday Art Walk to host visitors at a reception, 5pm ’til late.  Recommendation starting Q3 2021: Please gauge visits and aim for 8pm closing or later, depending on guests.

Planning: Businesses are responsible for planning their monthly exhibits and for coordinating directly with their artists. Would you like more details? Check out our Best Practices For Businesses PDF.

Select your artist: Someone you know or have seen before, or someone from the newest Art Walk Artist Library. The Art Walk team makes this library available for businesses to review, then reach out directly to any artists that interest them. 

Provide Artist Info: This is an *important* action, to give us the information we need to publish (Deadline is the day before Art Walk):

Deadline for October: Wednesday, October 13 (the day before Art Walk) by noon. 

Deadline for November: Wednesday, November 10 (the day before Art Walk) by noon.

Deadline for December: Wednesday, December 8 (the day before Art Walk) by noon.

PLAN THE EVENT

Marketing: The Art Walk team will be promoting the event and exhibits through our social channels and website but we need both the artist and the business to promote their exhibit as well. Be sure to post teasers, email your list, share the Art Walk posts, create an online event for RSVPs, or livestream the event.

Art Walk Night: Invite customers, clients, friends and family. Check for State restrictions on serving food or beverages, masking up and occupancy limits. Have a good time with your artist and community! Thank you for supporting the arts in West Seattle!
