For Artists

The West Seattle Art Walk is held the second Thursday of each month, 5pm to 8pm, year-round. The Art Walk is hosted by local West Seattle businesses who feature a wide range of art and showcase our vibrant artist community.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Artists wanting to have their artwork shown during Art Walk are encouraged to submit their information in response to the most current quarterly Call for Artists. These entries are collected and shared in an Artist Library once a quarter with businesses looking to host artists. Businesses will reach out to you directly if they are interested in hosting your artwork. Otherwise, check our Art Walk Walking Map and inquire directly if you see a potential partnership.

The West Seattle Arts Council will also seek artists to submit their work for our quarterly digital and printed Art Walk promotional materials. Inclusion includes our social channels, printed walking map and posters that will be displayed around West Seattle. This is a great opportunity to have your work prominently featured and promoted in our community! The quarterly Calls for Artists are timed as follows:

  • Q1: Open on November 1, close on November 28
  • Q2: Open on February 1, close on February 28
  • Q3: Open on May 1, close on May 28
  • Q4: Open on August 1, close on August 28

Follow us on social media to get alerts about the Calls, or you can return to our blog to see the posts once the Calls are open.

A note about the selection process: The Council meets every quarter to choose the next quarter’s artwork for printed collateral (posters and walking map postcards). Portrait-oriented images work best for the 11″x 17″ posters. We are also looking for works that have a look or feel that is seasonal and family-friendly in nature. We reserve the right to choose the artwork at our discretion.

Check out our Best Practices Guide for Artists (PDF) where we cover what to expect when participating in our Art Walk, from start to finish.
