About Megan
Manufactured objects have infiltrated just about every aspect of modern living.  Many things come and go but a few seem to have an impact on the lives of their owners; others are simply used until they are disposed of.  These objects take on a character of their own, absorbing a bit of their owner through repeated use.  Both the loved and the unloved object contain some form of innate beauty stemming from the practicality of design to the cracks that cause functionality to fail.  My work seeks to glorify the utilitarian.  Isolating one structure at a time, removing it from its functional context, I highlight the beauty of a manufactured form whose purpose was never to be beautiful.  Investigation of an object produces a greater understanding of how its pieces make a whole, a process that takes time and creates sentimentality that may not have existed before.  My affection for these bits of industrial equipment and cheap appliances is the driving force behind giving them a second life as an aesthetic object.

About Lena
I’ve always been fascinated by the connections around us – connections between people and connections people have with nature.  I think there is something really powerful that occurs when a person is moved by another person or by the world around them.  These are universal feelings that bring us closer together by experiencing them.  I take photos of things that move me – that I can connect with.  From my daughter making a wish on a dandelion to the colors of the bark as it peals away from a tree.  These are moments that make me want to stop what I am doing and live fully in the present.  My deepest hope is that others will experience these moments and connect with them as well.
