Michelle Yamamoto
State of The Art 2013

When I began YinspirationArt, my goal was simple: to pursue a long-held dream of leading a creative life. But giving in to the right side of the brain isn’t always so easy … especially when you’ve spent years in sales and marketing or film festival event planning.
In this journey from Kota Kinabalu on the island of Borneo to Beijing, China and Manila, Philippines to Whistler, B.C. to and now on a lake way south of Seattle, in the USA I’ve found incredible inspiration in the places I’ve lived and the people I have met.
With some entrepreneurial determination and a strong belief that ignorance is not only bliss but an asset, I finally let loose years of creative vision around 10 years ago in forming YinspirationArt, offering original art in acrylic, watercolor and oils, meditation journals and purses made in Malaysia, giclees and prints in a wide variety of genres. Now, after over 20 solo and group art shows, tradeshows and my prints featured in 20 retail and hotel outlets in North America I have taken my art to the next level introducing my first line of journals and purses in early 2012.
The road to Creativity isn’t always a straight one but with great help from my friends, my husband and my partners, YinspirationArt is a recognized brand in the yoga boutique industry … and I am immensely happy with this creative life.
My love of foreign cultures and traditions and has greatly influenced the way I think about art and product design in life and how it can be both functional and beautiful.

Join our Skateboard Art Workshop on Art Walk. All ages welcome, but space is limited. Please register at http://mindunwindart.com/event/paint-skate-deck-workshop/
Artist, Michelle Yamamoto guides students through their composition with consideration to the unusual canvas shape of the skateboard. Students will learn how to finish sketches into polished designs to transfer to your board, using handmade stencils and transfer techniques. Michelle has pointers and tricks using tissue and graphite paper to do away with pencil and eraser marks. Once the design is complete and transferred, students will paint with acrylic paints and finishing touches with marker pens and varnish.
