While visitor counts at last night’s Art Walk may have been proportionately low (given the limited venues and state guidelines), their encouragement and enthusiasm were unproportionately high! Thank you, Art Lovers, for fueling the current of energy and love that runs through Art Walk. We’ll keep building as you keep appreciating!
There were several receptions from North to South, from Admiral’s West Seattle Grounds to Brace Point Pottery’s Art on the Bricks. Ty Dorayraj’s photography captured the majesty of our Pacific Northwest region. The breadth and depth of ceramic arts were on display in Mimi Miles’ figurative creations, Loren Lukens’ glaze-painted pottery pieces and Garrison Coverdale’s vivid Rakuware works.
In the heart of the Junction, Verity Credit Union has business-hour viewing of Ian Hameroff’s gorgeous skyscapes and geometric pattern play, as does Flying Apron for Damon Brown/Creative Lou’s dramatic color-play compositions. Click! Design That Fits welcomes Elizabeth Person’s latest cartographic watercolors, Capers continues to showcase Magdalena Cooney’s blended, textured abstracts, and Wild Roses hosts Reeve Washburn’s collection of layered, textured Scroll paintings.
The collateral benefit of visiting West Seattle Cellars to view Michael Blatner’s unique, photographic point of view on everyday life was the two bottles of wine one Art Lover came away with. And Shawn Doll of NW Encaustics threw a final sale/party of works and studio supplies to cap a great run of mentorship and creativity at The Building.
There’s always time to see the virtual Art Walk online! Visit our YouTube playlist for a curated gallery movie and short videos provided by several of our artists.
We want to thank all our generous partners for the support they bring the West Seattle Art Walk – Verity Credit Union, Canna West Seattle, Brookdale Senior Living and our media partner West Seattle Blog. Thank you, too, to the all artists, merchants, and restaurants/bars/cafes for making this monthly event happen. To you, art-seeker, thanks for being part of this community.
Here’s a small photo recap of Art Walk night for the month of August by volunteer photographers Dan J., Marie F. and Jacquie S. Most of the artwork featured will be up all month long, so do find time to visit the above venues.
