Business Spotlight: Quail Park Memory Care Residences

Welcome back to one of the West Seattle Art Walk’s newest members! Quail Park Memory Care Residences joined us a Partner* just before the pandemic closed everyone’s doors. This spring marks their in-person debut at the Art Walk and their location, just two blocks east of the heart of the Junction, makes it very accessible stop on Second Thursday. Once inside you will feel right at home in their warm and inviting lobby – it’s like stepping into your neighbors living room with comfy chairs, books on the shelf and a fireplace.

Quail Park provides one of the few memory care only facilities in the Seattle area for those living with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. Every staff member is trained in Dementia care – including the cooks!

Becoming part of the monthly Art Walk was an easy decision for Quail Park since many of the residents practice art during weekly classes. Their exhibit space is a large area just off the lobby where residents, family, and community members alike can enjoy paintings, sculpture and photography on a regular basis.

“Art is a big part of our regular resident activities,” said Kristie Callahan, Community Liaison Director. “We are looking forward to sharing some of their work alongside a variety of other West Seattle artists during Art Walk.”

According to Ed Taylor, Community Relations Director, choosing West Seattle for a Quail Park Memory Care location was a purposeful decision. “West Seattle is a fairly unique neighborhood with a large aging population – many who have spent their entire life here, or even generations of their families,” said, Ed. “This location was important to Quail Park so residents can feel a part of the immediate community.”

The community focus also includes partnering with local schools, like Holy Rosary, who have students visit twice a week to do art projects with the residents. These and other art projects are hung proudly on the walls within the Quail Park facility for everyone to enjoy.

Quail Park Memory Care Residence, which is locally owned, is located at 4515 41st Ave. SW, just a couple blocks east of the Junction. You can visit their website here.

The West Seattle Art Walk takes place the second Thursday of every month from 5 – 8 p.m. Stop by Quail Park to enjoy art, wine and snacks!
