August 10 Art Walk was another memorable evening, full of energy and showings of gratitude for the beautiful West Seattle community.
In the Admiral neighborhood, there was tons of action outside West Seattle Grounds, with artist Benjamin Jordan, as well as musical artist, Steve Theile. At West Seattle Realty artist Woods Bramble showed interesting paintings, including one of the Starbucks building. At Zelda Zonk artist Suzanne M. Uschold showcased her unique art, made with quilting techniques. Wend was abuzz with people making their way to the Admiral end of Art Walk from the Alaska Junction. Shelly Sazama’s beautiful textile pieces captivated viewers and happy buyers. At Molly’s Bottle Shop, Cat Brooks hosted not only her first show at Art Walk but the first time her artwork has been on display anywhere. A painter for several years, her personal narrative of battling Endometriosis and the art it inspires was a standout.
No stranger to the Pioneer Square Art Walk, Stuart Kleiger made his West Seattle Art Walk debut at Jett Landscape + Design where Mia Manzulli, our new Art Walk coordinator could be found mingling among the crowd. Stuart kindly walked us through the inspirations for the pieces on display as well as the stories they tell and the stories they leave up to the viewer to discover. At Soprano’s Antico Pizza & Pasta Restaurant, MoonGirl (the duet of Phyl Stewart and Chuck Pautz) performed with the restaurant reaching maximum capacity inside at one point!
In Alaska Junction, Windermere was as always, a well-attended favorite due to brokers’ super friendliness and yummy snacks. The office was crowded with people really studying the art. At Discovery Shop people were very interested in both the art and the merchandise. Artist Betty Laughlin’s functional items were particularly popular. At Swan Dive vintage shoppers mixed with John Atkins fans to discuss his style, work, and signature looks. Lars Gesing gallery provided an immersive experience of nature as the artist delightfully unveils new breathtaking landscapes. At Jet City Labs there was a perfect mix of fine tunes, a friendly crowd, and a welcoming vibe for onlookers to enjoy. And for an uplifting boost to the evening, Epiphany of Time performed in front of KeyBank in the Alaska Junction beside the All-Ways Walk Intersection.
In Morgan neighborhood, Natalie Paige performed at Whisky West in Morgan Junction. At Doll Parts we enjoyed the wonderland of colors and upcycled adornments, with an addition of cleverly crafted jewelry rounding out the picture. At Inner Space Design’s smart and serene space the ceramic art fit in perfectly.
At West Seattle Cellars there were Ellen Zrimsek‘s beautiful tree paintings above the wine racks! Canna West showcased a friendly relaxed vibe with gorgeous surreal photos on display to round out the evening.
Our team of volunteer Art Walk photographers did a wonderful job of capturing the ambiance of the evening as well as the art and artists. Thank you, Meagan, Carole, Michelle, John, Jacquie, and Jill. We couldn’t do this without you! If you weren’t able to come out, we hope you take a moment to check out photos of the receptions below or on social media. Or, better yet, come see the shows yourself. Most of the artwork featured will be up all month long, so do find time to visit these venues.
We want to thank all our generous partners for the support they bring to the West Seattle Art Walk – Northwest Art and Frame, Verity Credit Union, Canna West Seattle, Quail Park, Easy Street Records, West Seattle Realty, our media partner West Seattle Blog and our printing partner Sky Printing.
