October Art Walk provided an enjoyable start to the fall season with stunning art, great music, and delicious food. Our welcoming West Seattle restaurants, stores, coffee shops, and wineries opened up their doors to welcome visitors for an evening of community love and local enjoyment.
The Alki Arts Pop Up was a burst of energy with three delightful new artists starting off a grand and sunny evening. The diverse styles and welcoming smiles make this stop a treat. Magdalena Cooney’s art brightened the evening at John L. Scott with fresh color and uplifting images of female faces, beauty, and presence. Verity artist Doris M. Goulet provided a broad array of festive and intricate card designs to delight both the eye and purse. Compass artist Maggie Sharar festooned the space with silk and painted canvases as well as prints and mugs. Her designs entice and refresh the crowd who heard about the significance of her bolder pieces. Talarico’s was bustling with people enjoying the pizza, the baseball playoffs, and of course, the art! The large Windermere space was full of Christopher’s bold, lush mixed media paintings. Visitors enjoyed hearing about the artist’s process. Swan Dive and digi-prim were a perfect match, bringing great energy, inventive design, and fantastic colors to Art Walk. Betsy Stewart, one half of the digi-prim team, was on hand to share both the art and her perspective.
Good Society Brewery’s taproom was abuzz with excitement for longtime local artist Diane Culhane’s first show at Art Walk. Diane’s works focusing on community, connection, and togetherness were certainly apt as the Admiral neighborhood came out for an evening of great art and libations. At West Seattle Realty, local artist and proprietor of Dog City, Jan Brown’s colorful paintings lit up the space just as the sun was setting. Appropriately, even some furry companions came to enjoy the art, food, and lively conversations at one of our Art Walk partner businesses. We were all excited to welcome new business Soiree to the Art Walk this month. West Seattle artist Sebastiano Tecchio’s “A Walk with Simone” brought the outdoors inside for a cheerful evening among Soiree’s delectable gourmet offerings.
For Art of Music, Soprano’s Antico had a nice turnout of diners, and owners Nick and Tanya were there to pose for a photo! Trio Swing 3PO charmed the guests with pleasant vocals and music. Over at Verity Credit Union Lana Sparks’ powerful vocals filled the air as Verity opened their folding doors to eliminate the street side wall and placed chairs on the sidewalk. At Beveridge Place Pub the vocals and guitar of Cyd Smith offered a mellow ambiance for listening enjoyment.
The wine tasters at cozy Viscon Cellars were having a wonderful night enjoying both the wine and Sally Simpson’s layered and visually engaging encaustics. Lots of friends (and a few canine companions, too) were one hand to celebrate. The vibrant colors of Debbi Murray’s work complemented the French wines being served at West Seattle Cellars. Natalia Heiser’s geometric blooms graced the walls of Inner Space Designs. Visitors were charmed by her art and her beautiful wrapping paper designs. Pine Lake Cellars was abuzz with the music of Jared Mitchell, blazing fire pits, and the delectable wine being served to an enthusiastic crowd. Doll Parts displayed the hand cut and digital PNW inspired collage art of Naomi Amber Dawn.
Our team of volunteer Art Walk photographers did a wonderful job of capturing the ambiance of the evening as well as the art and artists. Thank you, Mia, Meagan, Carole, Michelle, John, and Jill. We couldn’t do this without you! If you weren’t able to come out, we hope you take a moment to check out photos of the receptions below or on social media. Or, better yet, come see the shows yourself. Most of the artwork featured will be up all month long, so do find time to visit these venues.
