Clara Boline INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm

Bumper Sticker on a Ferrari

This show depicts orchids with various permanent changes made to them. The series of work is meant to call out the strength and resilience of femininity and the harmful comments women receive when making permanent changes to their own bodies. Brittany Noelle INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5-8pm

To learn more about this show at Kingtide Ink see their event post on their website.

Brittany Noelle is the founding/principal artist of PNW Orca Pod Squad Photography. Raised in the green mountains of Vermont, her love of nature began as a child while exploring the wilds of Acadia National Park in Maine. After witnessing their breaching in the Salish Sea her love of whales was solidified. Now a whale enthusiast and conservation activist, she spends countless hours along the West Coast documenting these majestic creatures, when not focused on the challenges of Harborview Medical Center’s Emergency Department . You can usually find her with her two “land Orcas” (Heli and Roosevelt), camera in tow, along the shores of the Pacific, roaming from Oregon to the San Juan Islands. As a wildlife photographer, naturalist and conservation advocate she enjoys connecting people with our local ecosystem and the animals that call the Salish Sea and the Pacific Northwest home. In 2024, 5% of all sales will be donated to Killer Whale Tales and Salish Wildlife Watch.  Killer Whale Tales is a local non-profit environmental education program that uses storytelling and field-based science to inspire students to take an active role in the conservation of Southern Resident killer whales and their habitat.  Salish Wildlife Watch is a local non-profit group that manages a WhatsApp notification platform dedicated to alerting members to whales (Orcas, Humpback whales, Grey whales) and rare/unusual marine mammals and birds in Central Puget Sound.  They strive to make it easier for residents around Puget Sound to have wondrous experiences with our local wildlife and to inspire people to advocate and protect the environment and wildlife of the Salish Sea.

JETT Landscape Architecture + Design

3445 California Ave SW

Heather Hargesheimer ARTIST OPEN STUDIO 5pm-8pm

My medium is encaustic painting, the ancient technique of manipulating pigmented beeswax on panels. The process involves applying heated beeswax onto rigid surface, such as prepared wood. The colors are achieved from adding pigments to the melted beeswax. The medium’s luminosity and depth have led me through a series of studies of abstract compositions built with strong graphical relationships and layered with rich colors. My work is restrained, yet complex; inspired by nature, but abstracted in its use of forms. Encaustic painting has allowed me a way to open my artwork to a new level of abstraction while still maintaining my connection to the natural world.

Carrie Brazil INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm

Carrie, a proud Seattle native rooted in the vibrant community of West Seattle, has found immense joy in abstract pain. Carrie has always considered herself creative, but didn’t discover her love for abstract painting until experimenting with it again in 2021. In Carrie’s work, you can find echoes of love, connection, family and fun, as well as politics, empathy, grief and nature, in ways both subtle and obvious. “I paint to process, to relax, to celebrate. I paint with emotion, usually without any specific direction. Intuition is my guide. Art is not always comfortable or palatable.  It can challenge our perceptions and deepen our connection to the world around us. This collection of small works represents both peace and stillness, as well as bright playfulness.
While my art holds deep personal significance, my dream is to create pieces that evoke unique meaning to each viewer.” Through her art, Carrie seeks to navigate and make sense of the realities of today’s world, inviting us to join her on this journey.

Kevin Ducoing  INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm.

Kevin Ducoing lives in West Seattle. He has lived in Washington since 1982 when his family left California and put down roots in the Pacific Northwest. Kevin immediately felt the draw of PNW aesthetic; damp, but clean and crisp, most times a bit more monochromatic than many other places. Kevin studied at the Art Institute of Seattle, and was notably influenced by instructor Bill Cumming there during the early 1990s. Kevin’s work reflects what may be the Pacific Northwest mindset: infusion of gray skies, dark forests, sounds muted by ancient beds of pine needles, and local lore brimming with ghost stories. Kevin feels acutely the interaction of this aesthetic in the small towns that dot the landscape and push up against or raze ancient forest. His desire is to express this duality with the feeling that it is actually we who are the ghost stories, and that the landscape may tell its own stories about us.

Lisa Eul INDOOR SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm

Intuitive acrylic, mixed media and encaustic painter based in Gig Harbor, Washington. Lisa has lived in the Puget Sound area for the majority of her life and now resides with her husband in Gig Harbor, WA where her studio is about 100 feet from her house. The sum of her collective experiences are reflected in her paintings.  Dual degrees in Economics and Political Science led her to an extensive career in the investment industry where she traveled globally.  When she wasn’t working, she was hiking, sailing, skiing, playing with her two daughters and traveling to parts unexplored. Lisa is an abstract painter who loves to learn and explore.  Her paintings find a balance between chaos and control.  Guided by intuition, she allows each piece to evolve organically, responding to each layer of gestural marks and paint.  She continues to add and remove materials which in turn creates a sense of depth, texture and history. Lisa’s work is held in private collections across the state and was featured on the cover of Gig Harbor Living Local in the March/April 2023 issue.  Her work can be found at Alinda Morris Interior Design Studio, Bloom and Frills by TLB Events as well as group and solo exhibits at Mavi Contemporary Art in 2023/2024 and a group exhibit at Alki Arts.  She also frequents a number of art festivals.

Lauren Bayer BUSINESS HOUR DISPLAY ONLY 12pm-7:30 pm

Pacific-northwest native and first-generation Peruvian, Lauren Bayer Echevarria spent 15+ years working in arts management before quitting her job in January 2023 to pursue her own art full-time. Lauren is a strong mental health advocate who is open with her own struggles with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and cPTSD. Inspired by this and her daily ritual of “breakfast, coffee, and medicine,” Lauren started Manic Pixie Dream Squirrel to celebrate mental health awareness and radical self-acceptance through her creations. Her work has been shown at The Fishbowl, No Bad Days, Side Rail Collective, and Slide galleries in Seattle, WA. Lauren holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a Master’s degree in Arts Management from Carnegie Mellon University. She currently lives in Seattle, WA with her partner and two cats.

“Celebrating mental health awareness and radical self-acceptance, I create quirky glass art, jewelry, and homeware that juxtaposes bright colors and imagery against dark patterns and themes. Hugely inspired by the manic pixie dream girl trope and emo culture from the 2000s, my items are handcrafted from glass in my studio in Seattle using a variety of techniques including flameworking, fusing, and kiln-casting. My core product line includes fried egg magnets, pill earrings, pill necklaces, breakfast studs, PB & J coasters, and fried egg trinket dishes (Prices range from $10 to $80). ANO Jewelry aka Alizah’s Jewelry INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm

In the early 2000’s I took a French beaded flower class with my sister. After spending a few hours manipulating wire, I figured, why not translate this into earrings? I made a pair, wore them, and was hooked (no pun intended, ha!). I then took wire wrapping & various beading classes at a local bead store. I learned what I liked as well as what I would never try again…seed bead woven bracelets anyone? Turns out the class that taught me how to fuse fine 99.9% silver was the most inspirational. Fusing can only happen if the metal is pure enough to have the same melting point…the ends join or bond together. And I liked working with the silver…I liked that it was cold, liked bending it, hammering it, linking it…design possibilities were popping into my head. I started selling my earrings/necklaces/bracelets at my house, and eventually my style evolved into the hoops, links, and various gemstone dangles I’ve been selling for the last 10 years at Capers in West Seattle. In 2018, an acquaintance encouraged me to take a silversmith class at my local art institute. What a game changer that was! This was exactly what I needed. I was given a push to evolve and I will forever be grateful. All jewelry is made by me in my home studio with the endless support from my husband Paul and yellow labs Gracie & Jones. Without them, this would not be as fun.

Having spent over three decades as a graphic artist and illustrator, she began painting again in earnest upon his passing in 2011. Her contemporary paintings marry brush-precision with colorful whimsy in an engaging mix of both abstract when viewed at close range, to more realistic at a distance.  Her urban landscapes capture the little secrets of strangers and the amazing architecture of both nature and man.

When Feathers Appear

When Feathers Appear, the studies in graphite, began with the beckoning sound of birdsong.  Usually in the woods, frequently by the shore, birdsong filled the air.  It became the soundtrack of my life, it would seem.  I was aware and I appreciated all that was before me.   One day, life changed for me, as it does for everyone.  After experiencing profound loss, I rarely heard or even enjoyed the birdsong.  I began to look down; I began to wrap myself in thoughts of all that I had lost.  Still wandering in the woods, still finding myself by the shoreline, I eventually began to see , and I began to look for signs, signs of forward thinking, signs of hope. And feathers appeared before me…hence, my inspiration.

Hope is a thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all

Join us for May Art Walk on Thursday, May 9th when you can meet Sarah, enjoy her artwork, and sample some tasty wines at our weekly tasting.

Sarah C.B. Guthrie INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5:30pm- 8pm

Seattle Joy

Sarah C.B. Guthrie is a Seattle-based painter and writer, specializing in vibrant works of contemporary pointillism designed to inspire joy. “To me, joy is an optimism of spirit we all carry within us and can be sparked through our actions. Paradoxically, we can (and need to) feel joy at the same time we feel anger, sadness, and grief,” she shared. Her paintings take a lot of inspiration from the natural world of the Pacific Northwest–our gorgeous gardens, trees, lakes, ponds, sunrises and sunsets. A special feature of her process is the array of colors within each brush mark. Her marks contain dozens of slender lines of color that engage the viewer in optically mixing the colors–inviting them into the process as they find their own joy in her non-objective paintings. Sarah’s paintings have been part of solo and group shows in museums, galleries, and businesses in Seattle, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Washington DC, including at the prestigious Phillips Collection. Her works are held in private collections in Seattle, New York, London, Washington DC, California, and around the world.

INTO THE VOID

This series is named after the daunting nature of learning something new, persevering & pursuing goals no matter how challenging it may be. This series is meant to pull the viewer into the moment of stepping into the unknown, while romanticizing the beauty of it. Natasha’s subject focus lies in people & the profound emotions they embody. Having explored many various mediums, from charcoal, ink & oil to watercolor & gouache, Natasha is now delving into a new focus. “”Into The Void”” marks her first ever acrylic series. Her journey began as a child. Her father’s military service meant frequent relocations, and art became a natural outlet. She excelled in high school, which led her to study at Central Washington University, receiving a minor in Studio Art. While at CWU she had the opportunity to paint murals for the university, participate in local art competitions, & represent the student body with a class gift to the university’s president. Natasha’s work is dedicated to her late grandfather, who was her biggest supporter & always filled with unconditional love, as well as to her family & friends, whose support has been invaluable in her artistic journey.
