West Seattle enjoyed another beautiful evening of art and music for the August Art Walk. Artists, both seasoned and new were out to share their works with the community.

In Admiral Junction, With bold primary colors and graphic lines, Rodney King’s show at Good Society Brewery and Public House was a captivating experience. The pieces made the space feel like the best secret party viewers had accidentally stumbled into and never wanted to leave.

At KingTide Ink Sarah Geissler was running the front of house exhibition while Charlie Piper was making his way through a series of flash tattoos—who doesn’t love live art in the making? Large paintings and smaller prints were waiting for those who didn’t secure a coveted flash appointment.

While Joshua Dennis brought a soulful sound to Art of Music at West Seattle Grounds, artist Matthew Hoover’s impressionist works couldn’t help but to draw the eye and considered attention of all who walked through the doors. His second showing at West Seattle Grounds (Matthew previously exhibited there last year) was a success even early on as he sold a piece just as he was hanging it up for the month’s display!

West Seattle Realty boasted a collaborative show between Charlie Harris and illusive street artist Mike Henderson.

Bright, beautiful and filled with laughter, the Alaska Junction was buzzing with anticipation as we enjoyed the music chiming throughout. Doll Parts had psychedelic artist and block printer Parker Warborg sharing vibrant art featuring exquisite PNW locales.

Junction 47 lobby exuded joy and movement with this month’s featured artist Robin Jordan work hanging. Impressionist portrayals of women living their best life with grace and style. Jet City had a trio of artists depicting silver accent jewelry, Gnomes in hiding and our beloved “BE KIND” candle and heartfelt jewelry collection of Lateetha K.

Lars is always ready to welcome visitors to his gallery, and he has an eye for finding just the right angle for his photos that can make even a mundane thing like UW campus look stunning. Henry’s paintings are unique and stunning, and add a beautiful pop of color. John L Scott is always a gracious host and their wine and appetizers pair nicely with hanging out and looking at all the wonderful paintings.

Dual works were on display at Verity, T. Frick’s abstract work is a holdover from last month, and her large scale paintings draw the eye and keep it there as you search through the details and clues she leaves on the canvas. Doris is a Maine native who now calls Seattle her home. She was in front with a wide assortment of greeting cards, all made with 100% beeswax. There are offerings for any occasion or even as display pieces for your shelves.

Through her travels in France, Melanie Biehle is inspired by the many different colors. Each painting has a unique feeling from her travels. Easy Street had a great crowd for the band Chimestone. @chimestone206

Elena Cruz presented her photography of the Seattle area on postcards for people to purchase at Discovery Shop. She had some very nice shots of many Seattle area highlights. You can also see more of her photography and purchase prints from her website elenacruz.art. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Over at Windermere, Cheryl McIntosh was available to chat about her gouache and alcohol ink paintings as well as photography. Windermere also had wine and hors d’oeuvres for visitors stopping by. Check out more of Cheryl’s art and photography at http://www.quantacollectiv.mypixieset.com. Therapeutics Associates is a little off the beaten path, but worth a stop. Many colorful pieces to see!

Further South, Viscon’s artist Reese Hutchinson displayed her pieces which exude a vibrant enthusiasm for life. Reese commutes to her backyard shed, aka “art nest” after work to play and explore without following any rules. Her art keeps you guessing! At Canna West we had just missed a huge turnout for artist Corey Johnson who is well versed in a variety of different mediums with pieces that looked like they could’ve been made by three different extremely talented artists. Amazing!

Our very own volunteer, Jacquie Stock had her acrylics on display at West Seattle Nursery. With landscapes and florals that blended perfectly with the surroundings, the atmosphere was serene and inviting. At Nor Designs, Diane Bellasario’s woodcut veneers felt right at home.

Patri O’Connor’s vibrant summer scenes from the beaches and coastline of Chile set the stage for a warm reception at Alki Arts Gallery. Music, wine, and good conversation flowed effortlessly through the gallery space. At Inner Space, the colors of the San Juan Islands were alive in the gorgeous hand-woven wall hangings of Dana Alkebulan. As always, Inner Space offered the perfect setting for a summer night’s celebration of tactile art. Pine Lake Cellars invited Art Walk participants to create their own art while enjoying their wonderful wine. Paint-by-number kits attracted patrons who were happily painting and sipping!

Our team of volunteer Art Walk photographers did a wonderful job of capturing the ambiance of the evening as well as the art and artists. Thank you, Carole, Helen, Jon C, John R, Meagan, Mia, and Molly. We couldn’t do this without you! If you weren’t able to come out, we hope you take a moment to check out photos of the receptions below or on social media. Or, better yet, come see the shows yourself. Most of the artwork featured will be up all month long, so do find time to visit these venues.
