October 10 Art Walk in Pictures

October brought a cool evening, along with autumnal colors to inspire artists and onlookers for West Seattle Art Walk. And of course, we enjoyed all the creativity and enthusiasm for art in all its forms.

Alaska Junction was busy with many events in close proximity for art walkers to enjoy. John L Scott featured artist was Maria Zamora with host was Anna Schwartz. The whole experience was lovely. Her art was screen printing and the pictures here are only a section of what was approx. 40ft. long of print. The artist is a Seattle resident and is really having fun with her work.

Verity offered up a combo joy for the senses with bursts of bold impressionist color from artist David Mampel and musical by StaffLounge, with karaoke. David’s painting recently won an award and it was a blast.

At Compass Mara was a gracious host and the art of Desmond Hanson was amazing. Known for his paintings on electrical boxes around town, he got his start in construction and because he was around electrical boxes all the time, he decided they would be a great public canvas. He has since finished that project and is now focused on art full time.

Capers was super festive. Artist Janice Kirstein was inspirational in front of her sunflowers and Capers amazing fall decorations. She was incredibly friendly and took a photo with one of our volunteers in front of one of her personal favorite paintings.

East Street Records hosted a t-shirt screen printing by the Vera Project. It was a unique opportunity to get a FREE screen print on a t-shirt (you could bring your own or buy one there). They created an exclusive, Halloween focused music screen print for the event.

Doll Parts artist Jonathan Soren Davidson added a chill of horror to the air with their amazing drawing depicting gruesome images with a touch of beauty.

Walter Wine Bar was abuzz with warmth, delicious cuisine and libation of delight.

Windemere welcomed us with the pastels and vivid forms of Michelle Noel Hurteau.

West Seattle Realty featured musician Sue Quigley alongside artist Autumn Tranquilino and refreshments for visitors. Jet City Labs hosted musician Cami Voss with several vendors onsite. Alki Arts theme “Rising Above” featured interpretations by Steffanie Lorig, Joanne Shellan, Steve Jensen, and Lisa Lamoreaux with music by Terra Nova Duo.

In Morgan Junction, Canna West was showing Aude Arutunian‘s vibrant and talented work. Everyone commented on how lovely her work is, and how good it looks. She’s been busy working on her art.

Viscon was showing Jessie Summa Russo’s oil and cold wax paintings that show her lucid dream world. Able to see and recognize that she’s dreaming, Jessie has caught much of what she sees in her work.

West Seattle Cellars had the work of Leon Lowman, whose abstract works pair nicely with a bottle of local wine. His work showcases his immense talent, and he will be in person at the next art walk.

In Admiral, Megan Carroll brought several new pieces to Sebastiano’s Natural Wines this month after successfully selling much of her work there in September.  The bright beachy vibes continue to be a draw as our Seattle sunsets bring Art Walk into the cooler, darker months.

Guests are still enjoying the juxtaposition between pen work and watercolor in Chelsea Dauphin’s collection on display at Soiree for a while longer.  At Wend, artist Emily Juarez finished up her two-month show with a packed house.  While her current show features the strength of women and flowers, she’s currently planning upcoming shows centering around poisonous plants!

Our team of volunteer Art Walk photographers did a wonderful job of capturing the ambiance of the evening as well as the art and artists. Thank you, Carole, John R, Meagan, Mia, Michelle, Molly, and Stacie. We couldn’t do this without you! If you weren’t able to come out, we hope you take a moment to check out photos of the receptions below or on social media. Or, better yet, come see the shows yourself. Most of the artwork featured will be up all month long, so do find time to visit these venues.

We want to thank all our generous partners for the support they bring to the West Seattle Art Walk – Northwest Art and Frame, Verity Credit UnionCanna West Seattle, Quail Park, Easy Street Records, West Seattle Realty, our media partner West Seattle Blog and our printing partner Sky Printing.
