Founded by Seattle bass player Jeff Rouse in 2017, The Gemini Affair captures the dark, gritty essence of rock, blending brooding soundscapes with raw energy. Known for their haunting music that speaks to backroom deals and unspoken truths, the band features local rock veterans Keith Ash and Ryan Waters, with production by Don Gunn. Their first EP was a Seattle hit, and singles like “You’re Perfect” have earned praise from rock legends Mike McCready and Duff McKagan. This album release promises to solidify their place in the city’s vibrant music scene. Find out more about The Gemini Affair at their Instagram or webpage.

While exploring the art walk in the rain, we came across a deeply personal and heartfelt series dedicated to an artist’s beloved dog, Tigress. Painting her dog began as a way to confront the fear of losing her one day. She will never forget the moment she first met her, or the day she will have to say goodbye. Through these paintings, she sought to immortalize her, capturing her spirit and preserving her presence for eternity. Through these pieces, the artist creates a haven for Tigress’s soul, a place where she can always find rest and a way home. This tribute speaks to an unbreakable bond, expressing the artist’s profound love and gratitude for the emotional depths Tigress has awakened. It’s a moving testament to love that will remain steadfast, “always and forever.” Check out Seorin’s Instagram page for more art.
We had the privilege of meeting T. Frick, a self-taught artist and licensed Landscape Architect, during the West Seattle Art Walk. T. is not only a talented female entrepreneur but also a passionate creator whose work is rooted in her lifelong love of art and nature. T. has found inspiration in nature’s textures, colors, and forms—elements that continue to shape her vibrant, abstract landscapes today. Working in oil, cold wax, acrylic, and mixed media, T. embraces an unplanned, organic process where her pieces evolve through mark-making and movement. She often jokes that she “dreams in trees,” as they frequently find their way onto her canvases, becoming beautiful, spontaneous expressions of the natural world. T’s collection ranges from smaller, intricate paintings to larger works in progress, with custom commissions also available. For those interested in joining her on a journey through her unique artistic lens, T.’s work can be found online, where you can dive into her captivating world of colors and landscapes. If you missed her this evening you can catch her again in next month’s art walk. For more information about T check out her website.
Janice Kirstein’s work is currently showcased at Capers in West Seattle. She studied under Henry Stinson in Seattle, where she embraced Sergei Bongart’s color theory, deepening her love for painting outdoors and inspiring her focus on light and design. Known for her “gorgeous transitions of color,” Janice brings vivid back-lit flowers, puffy cumulus clouds, and Seattle’s fishing boats to life on canvas, drawing viewers into the atmospheric beauty of each scene. Her subject is often secondary to the intriguing play of light and bold composition, capturing the essence of the moment. See more about Janice at her Instagram or webpage.
In Morgan Junction, at West Seattle Cellars there was a friendly gathering of several artists, some from next door at Alki Arts. Kyle Williams and Leon Lowman had their abstract pieces on display in this cozy wine shop on a rainy night.
We got into the holiday season with a sneak peek of the upcoming performance on Dec 22nd of the Nutcracker Suites by Dance! West Seattle. Leon Lowman was pulling double duty between Alki Arts and West Seattle Wine Cellars, as his artwork was in both places. Some of the patrons told me how much they loved CA Pierce’s work. CA Pierce, Vanessa Lanza, and Ricardo Duqua were not there when I visited. Curator Diane Venti hosted a full house that was lively and inviting.
It was the perfect night to sip some delicious wine at Viscon Cellars while admiring the artwork of Jessie Summa Russo. While the artist was not present, Lisa Sweeney was on hand to make some wine recommendations and talk about how the owner is such a big supporter of the Art Walk and the artists of WS.
NOR Design & Construction had a chill vibe and lots of pizza. Dan Bernunzio had several of his unique “staintings” on display. He talked about his newest piece with its signature stained wood landscape and added in some lush silhouetted trees using acrylic.
Our team of volunteer Art Walk photographers did a wonderful job of capturing the ambiance of the evening as well as the art and artists. Thank you, Carole, Cat, John C, John R, Meagan, and Michelle. We couldn’t do this without you! If you weren’t able to come out, we hope you take a moment to check out photos of the receptions below or on social media. Or, better yet, come see the shows yourself. Most of the artwork featured will be up all month long, so do find time to visit these venues.
