Brittany Noelle and Lora Radford INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-9pm

PNW Orca Pod Squad Photography: Brittany Noelle

Brittany Noelle is the founding/principal artist of PNW Orca Pod Squad Photography. Raised in the green mountains of Vermont, her love of nature began as a child while exploring the wilds of Acadia National Park in Maine. After witnessing their breaching in the Salish Sea her love of whales was solidified. Now a whale enthusiast and conservation activist, she spends countless hours along the west coast documenting these majestic creatures, when not focused on the challenges of Harborview Medical Center’s Emergency Department . You can usually find her with her two “land Orcas” (Heli and Roosevelt), camera in tow, along the shores of the Pacific, roaming from Oregon to the San Juan Islands. As a wildlife photographer, naturalist and conservation advocate she enjoys connecting people with our local ecosystem and the animals that call the Salish Sea and the Pacific Northwest home. In 2024, 5% of all sales will be donated to Killer Whale Tales and Salish Wildlife Watch.  Killer Whale Tales is a local non-profit environmental education program that uses storytelling and field-based science to inspire students to take an active role in the conservation of Southern Resident killer whales and their habitat.  Salish Wildlife Watch is a local non-profit group that manages a WhatsApp notification platform dedicated to alerting members to whales (Orcas, Humpback whales, Grey whales) and rare/unusual marine mammals and birds in Central Puget Sound.  They strive to make it easier for residents around Puget Sound to have wondrous experiences with our local wildlife and to inspire people to advocate and protect the environment and wildlife of the Salish Sea.

Diane Bellisario INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm

Working with the veneers allows for endless opportunities to explore texture and depths that occur by placing different woods and grains together, for me, it’s reminiscent of putting together a big puzzle but without a picture as a guide.  I love taking an old craft typically used in furniture making  and interpreting it in a modernized form.

Seorin Park INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8:00pm.

Always and Forever

The act of painting my dog Tigress started from the fear of losing her one day. I know that I will never forget in my life- the day I first met her, and the day I will have to say goodbye to her. I paint Tigress to immortalize her. I make art for her to make a haven where her spirit can lay down and rest. I want her spirit to be able to come home when her body is no longer there. I believe she will live there forever and will always be with me.
I dedicate my eternal love to Tigress, who has awaken the emotions that I didn’t know existed in myself. No matter when and where, I want her to remember: I love you more than anything, my babygirl. Always have, always will, until the last moment my heart stops.

Skin Yard INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 6:00pm-9:00pm

In 1985, the music scene in Seattle was in the early stages of what eventually became known internationally as grunge. The first recorded evidence of this emerging sound was the Deep Six compilation released in 1986 on the Seattle-based C/Z Records. Of the 6 bands on that record, only two had ever released anything previously: the legendary U-Men and Green River (the band that would spawn both Mudhoney and Pearl Jam). The other 4 bands had never been heard outside of the city. It was Deep Six that exposed the world to the first recordings by Soundgarden, Melvins, Malfunkshun…and Skin Yard. Skin Yard was formed in Seattle in January 1985 by Daniel House (bass), and Jack Endino (guitar). They were joined by Matthew Cameron on drums who had previously played with House in an instrumental power trio in 1984 called FEEdbACK. Over the course of 6 years and 4 LPs, there were 4 distinct drummers who appeared on their recordings: Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam), Jason Finn (Presidents of the United States of America, Love Battery), Norman Scott (Gruntruck with Skin Yard singer, Ben McMillan) and Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees, Mad Season and Walking Papers with Duff McKagan).

Enid Smith Becker INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 2:00pm – 7:00pm. Artist will not be able to attend.

Of Time and Place

ARTIST STATEMENT
We are all a product of landscape. My goal is to make the universal personal through the creation of places for the eye and heart to travel. At a time where the environment is threatened there is a pressing imperative to find a common vocabulary, to create a reminder of the solace often found in nature. My work, semi-abstracted landscapes, depicts multiple layered views of the environment in a single space. The sharp edges of the interior panels represent the human perspective, the geometric meshing with the organic, humans responding to nature in a constantly changing dialogue. These divisions reflect how we interact with the world around us on a daily basis, through the lenses of time, space and scale as we frame our experience though the screen of a mobile device. I paint in acrylic on canvas.

ARTIST BIO
Enid Smith Becker works in the Seattle area. Inspired by the complex dynamic between humans and the surrounding world, her paintings remind us of the powerful capacity of nature’s beauty to transform the self. Working from a contemporary understanding of the sublime, she presents a fluid, multifaceted experience that mirrors our own interactions with place and time. The layering of multiple perspectives invites the viewer to see the world through shifting lenses of time, scale, and space. Painted in acrylic on canvas, the work is often heavily textured in places, with layers of acrylic paint, fabric, natural materials, and paper. She studied art at the University of Washington and has taught in the northwest. Her work is in numerous collections around the US and abroad. Enid is represented by the Seattle Art Museum Sales Gallery.”

Urban Scraffiti: Marks and Motion
Step into a world where free-flowing chaos and creativity collide, where the street meets the studio, and where words aren’t just read—they’re felt. This new collection of mixed media works, inspired by the artist’s unique style of scraffiti, showcases a bold, gritty, and contemporary energy.

Blending the raw intensity of graffiti with the fluidity of script, the pieces in this show create a dynamic fusion of motion and message. With spray paint, stencils, and hand-drawn elements, each artwork speaks in the visual language of urban expression, layering bold colors, textures, and movement in ways that transcend boundaries. It’s art that pulses with energy—unapologetically free yet composed.

Drawing inspiration from the streets, the work elevates this raw energy to a new level of artistic depth. It invites viewers to look beyond the layers of spray paint and ink, encouraging a dialogue that sparks curiosity and invites questions. Each piece explores themes of identity, connection, and transformation, offering a space for reflection and engagement with the messages within.

Enter a space where art inspires you to see things not as they are, but as they could be.

Jessie Summa Russo INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-9pm. Artist will be present and providing snacks to go with the free wine tastings at the December West Seattle Art Walks.

CLOSING RECEPTION
Thursday, December 12

Cosmic Grids/Morphetica

Jessie Summa Russo studied printmaking and painting at Sarah Lawrence College in New York and illustration at Massachusetts College of Art & Design. Based in West Seattle since 1997, she founded the venue Skylark Café & Club in 2006 and ran it until 2013. She is currently the Gallery Director at Gallery 110 in downtown Seattle. The pieces in this show are from two collections. Cosmic Grids: At its most basic level, our universe exists as a “vibrant energy field” that Nobel-winning physicist Frank Wilczek calls The Grid. In these collaged oil paintings, each square represents a life—some bright, some indistinct, some full of contrast, and some just a brief and incomplete sliver—that belongs to and in the blue-black void of space equally. Morphetica: These abstract expressionist paintings are inspired by recurring dreamscapes and hypnopompic hallucinations—vivid sensory experiences that occur as a person wakes up from sleep.

Leon Lowman BUSINESS HOUR DISPLAY ONLY 5pm- 7pm.

I was first introduced to painting with acrylics as a teenager, by my high school art teacher. At first I painted Caribbean land and seascapes while growing up in Puerto Rico. I then slowly began experimenting in abstracts and collage. My focus is to create vibrant abstract compositions that reflect my past surroundings in the Caribbean – the contrast the strong sunlight creates, the open spaces, the freedom of the ocean breeze, and the joyous and spirited lifestyle that flows freely on the island. The challenge of creating an abstract composition that makes sense to the artist’s eye brings excitement to the process of painting. Painting allows me the freedom to borrow from my past, experiment in a meaningful context, and paint in a way that reflects the way I feel about the world today.

Leon Lowman received his B.A. in Art Education from Inter American University of Puerto Rico, and his M.A. in Painting from University of Northern Iowa. His work has been exhibited extensively in the Pacific Northwest. He has been featured nationally at places such as, San Diego Art Institute, Florida State University Gallery, and the Iowa State Exhibition, among many others. He was featured in the American Painters in Paris Exhibition

4316 SW Othello Street

Flora Carlile-Kovaks, Flora Felts, ARTIST OPEN STUDIO 5pm-9pm

Demonstration Flóra will do a demonstration on her latest felt designs inspired by lichens of the PNW.

I work with the most ancient, and probably an endangered textile technique: I combine raw, carded wool with water, soap, and vigorous kneading to create a durable, unwoven, dense, and environmentally sustainable material: felt. I often hand-dye my materials and incorporate silk fabrics and other materials to enrich the surface. In 2022 I invented a technique where I pleat hand-dyed silk strips and then felt it in a merino wool base. The rhythm, the frequency and the varied size pleats create a 3 dimensional,  pixelated abstract picture for the distant viewer. My work is mainly inspired by shapes, textures and beauty in the surrounding nature of the PNW, reflections on water, and magnified details (e.g. a magnified butterfly wing or lichen surfaces). Felting is not bound to any frame or instruments in the process. The work can expand in size, can be created in any shape, and even can be sculpted. Wool is organic and renewable, and handmade felt is a versatile material to soften modern industrial interiors while performing many environmental benefits (sound abatement, moisture management, natural insulation, fire resistance – and can be fireproofed, too). Handmade felt is an underestimated and underrepresented medium in the art world. My mission is to break the boundary between fine craft and art and bring felt back to modern living spaces and interior design.

Dee Elle ARTIST OPEN HOUSE 6:30pm-8:30pm

Works on Paper

Dee Elle stands for D.L, my initials. Though I am a theatre artist, a poet and an expressive arts therapist by trade, I started learning and painting in watercolors during the pandemic lockdowns, as a way to keep myself mentally and emotionally resilient in the face of so much unknown. Though watercolor is mostly known for its transparency, it also has a beautiful and intricate capacity for layering (called “glazes”).  I enjoy mixing medias at times and I  continue to learn and practice“ traditional methods” because watercolor challenges me and constantly reminds me to balance flow and rigidity, opacity and transparency, hard work and play.  I believe that practicing any art form is a way of knowing ourselves in the world and to reclaim our birthright as creative creatures. I am so grateful to my teacher and mentor, the artist Fred Lisaius, who encourages and challenges me in the kindest way. And to the wonderful community of painters I paint with weekly, thank YOU!

I will donate 20 percent of my sales to Real Rent Duwamish.
