Snow flurries joined us for the February 13 West Seattle Art Walk. Despite the cold temperatures, people donned their hats and scarves to venture out for some art, music, and wine in our warm and welcoming businesses. The charcuterie was next level, with some beautiful displays showcasing the culinary talent of our hosts!

For this pre-Valentine’s Day Art Walk, we were reminded that Art Walk is an AMAZING date night activity! It’s also a VERY family friendly event! Our next Art Walk is March 13, so plan ahead and skip the babysitter if you’re looking for something new to do on a Thursday evening. We would love to see you there!

Admiral District had a nice turnout, considering the snowy evening. West Seattle Grounds always has a large crowd, with both a musician and artist Pam Hemmerling present to make for a well-rounded event. Good Society featured artist Andrew Wakefield with a solid group of onlookers. Two artists Mindi Katzman and Karen Johnson were present at WEND and were ready to discuss their art with viewers.

In the Alaska Junction, there was a wide variety of events featuring all kinds of work. Vain’s Palentine’s Party was packed with multiple artists, perfume, jewelry for your mouth, and even abortion access pins and plan B available.

Verity displayed art from our volunteer and poster artist Jon Couch, whose stunning photos include a highlight of the northern lights behind Mt Rainier. John L Scott featured Esmeralda Vasquez who has a beautiful series of pieces using multiple medias (spray paint, oil, and acrylic). She will be moving to West Seattle soon, and is looking forward to engaging in our art scene.

Rush Hour featured bold colors of paintings by Artsy Ears. They always allow us to interpret the paintings how we see them, as everyone feels different things. Their work as also been featured in a book “Truth B Told” by Onyx Fine Arts Collective.

At Capers, Rebecca Woodhouse’s art looked amazing in there. It looked like something that could easily be hung in someone’s living room. Her artistic style is so unique and interesting. She likes to create lines with found objects and starts with squares. She paints over and over till she feels like a piece is finished. Beautiful!

At Windermere, Karen Graber’s abstract art pieces are a combination of painting, assembiage and collage. She creates something and then she’s done. No painting over it again. She has been an artist for over 30 years and also teaches artistic expression in community colleges throughout Seattle.

Jet City Labs showed art from Kyle Bradford, whose works are incredible – full of color and story-telling each in their own way. His art was part of a group show called Transplants, with a focus on digital art. Derek, from Jet City Labs, said they are going to be featuring more digital artists in the future. Looking forward to it!

Morgan had a group display at Alki Arts, with a saxophonist and guitarist present to serenade onlookers. Shelley Irish at Canna West showed pieces that are meant to nourish the soul and provide a mind-body connection for onlookers. Ashley Harrison’s first ever show is on display at Viscon Cellars with a beautiful array of wildlife photography. Of note, Viscon’s Wine Tasting fees are waived for participants in the Art Walk (in case you needed additional incentive!)

We want to thank all our generous partners for the support they bring to the West Seattle Art Walk – ArtsWest, Jet City Labs, Nor Design, Northwest Art and Frame, Verity Credit UnionCanna West Seattle, Quail Park, John L. Scott, Easy Street Records, Windermere West Real Estate, our media partner West Seattle Blog and our printing partner Sky Printing.

Our team of volunteer Art Walk photographers did a wonderful job of capturing the ambiance of the evening as well as the art and artists. Thank you, Cat, Carole, Molly, and Stacie. We couldn’t do this without you! If you weren’t able to come out, we hope you take a moment to check out photos of the receptions below or on social media. Or, better yet, come see the shows yourself. Most of the artwork featured will be up all month long, so do find time to visit these venues.
