Ignore those April showers. We’re Northwesterners, am I right? Mark your calendars to join us Thursday April 10th for the West Seattle Art walk! Grab some snacks and a glass of wine to enjoy art from all of our amazing local artists who are showing at over 40 participating businesses. Also, make sure to enjoy a wide variety of “Art Walk Specials” at 20 cozy bars, restaurants and cafes (see map below) while viewing the evening art walk.

Naomi Benson is a self-taught, experimental artist whose work defies conventional boundaries by blending diverse mediums and techniques. Guided by her subconscious, she often begins with automatic drawing or painting, creating pieces that feel spontaneous and deeply human. Her art emphasizes environmental themes, incorporating recycled materials to promote sustainability. Benson has showcased her work in solo exhibitions at the Highline Heritage Museum (2023) and Normandy Park City Hall (2024), as well as regional galleries and markets. Recent highlights include Edward Jones South Lake Union and LoCA Gallery. Working from her Seattle studio, she draws inspiration from the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty.

Con Save Art is the work of Jonny Hiett. He has been making art throughout his life but with the encouragement of his husband, has begun to put his art out into the world. Briny Margin

John uses color as a means to de-emphasize the line and form. The color itself is the subject of this work representing a time and place of the viewer’s interpretation.

Originally from Seattle, John studied Photographic Arts and Art History at Salzburg College, Austria and received a BFA in Fine Art Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. In 1991 he began a career in photography in New York, eventually making his way west continuing his career in Chicago and San Francisco. He now lives again in Seattle with his wife and kids.

Previous clients include Amazon, Bellevue Art Museum, Bellwether Housing, The City of Tukwila, The City of Kent, Pacific Place and Belltown United (as part of a grant from City of Seattle’s Hope Corps). Bonni’s Bleoples are created from blobs of porcelain and a peak becomes the 3D nose. Faces are drawn and ‘dressed up’ with ink pens, crystals, feathers, etc. A magnet is on the back for display. Each Bleople is an original, individually handcrafted, one-of-a-kind work of art. Bonni has a BFA and has sold her Bleoples in New Orleans, Chicago, Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio.

traditional travel photography and 360-degree imagery with digital effects,
bringing new perspectives to familiar scenes. I am thrilled to share my

Joseph Rossano INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 10am-8pm We have art from several other artists in our space, some are for sale, others are not.  Mr. Rossano’s work is so highly sought after we are only able to get one or two pieces from his at this time. However, this piece is 8ft x 30in in size so quite a dramatic piece, done for us exclusively. We will be doing a post on IG here soon once we have finalized what pieces we will have on display.

JOSEPH ROSSANO, born to clinicians and research scientists, graduated from Louisiana State University as an artist. His path joined him, via mentorship, collaboration, and exhibition, with renowned artists and institutions including Dale Chihuly, Judy Pfaff, The Pilchuck Glass School, Waterford Crystal, Museum of Glass, the South Australia Museum, Google, and more. Integrating cutting edge technology and science with his art, Rossano engages and challenges the viewer to reflect upon humankind’s impact on our planet and its varied ecosystems. Much of his youth was spent exploring the North Shore of New York’s Long Island and hiking in the Catskill Mountains. These were formative years that evolved a life focused on creating environmental awareness through art.

Rossano now lives and works 65 miles north of Seattle, with his home and studio nestled in the temperate rainforests of the Pacific Northwest.

Seattle-based band Racoma crafts a front porch soundscape where indie and folk influences intertwine, evoking a casual warmth like reconnecting with an old friend. Glenn Haider’s earnest vocals are complemented by Spencer Templeman’s dynamic drum sound and Sean Collopy’s lyrical guitar. Each person’s element is essential, like voices in the heartfelt conversations that make up Racoma’s songs. Their collective sound radiates human connection, with emotional depth that draws listeners in to reflect long after the music fades. For their most recent album, Racoma continues to keep things fresh with something a bit different. The band partnered with fly-fishing bassist Garrett Gue to record live takes directly to analog tape at Sage Arts Recording Studio, capturing a lively and melodic approach rich with spontaneity and unafraid of imperfections. In Vine is playful and loose, capturing wistful joy in a way that feels both intimate and raw. The heartfelt, live recording of In Vine brings Racoma’s energy straight to the songs, inviting listeners to feel like they’re right in the room, immersed in every story. The stripped-down process felt like the perfect way to capture the group’s latest sound that mixes old and new in a captivating and nostalgic way.

Nikita Ares is a Seattle-based painter originally from Cagayan de Oro, Philippines, who received her BFA from Cornish College of the Arts in 2018. Her work, deeply rooted in the symbiosis between movement and energy, explores the intricate relationship between these forces. Through her use of traditional and modern techniques in painting and drawing, she captures the vibrations and dynamics of people, objects, and nature. Her intention is to depict the bond between the flow of energy and the chaos of movement, inviting viewers to expand their awareness. Her work has been exhibited in shows in the Seattle area such as SOIL Gallery, studio e Gallery, MadArt Studio, Mini Mart City Park, Specialist Gallery, Seattle Design Festival, and the Bellevue Art Museum. Her work has been commissioned for public art projects such as Meta Open Arts, the Seattle Kraken, Seattle Office of Arts and Culture and Amazon. Shelley Irish ARTIST OPEN STUDIO 5pm-8pm

Through my art, I explore the web of psychology and the comfort of nature. I aim to paint beautiful things that act as a bridge between healing and the rawness of feelings. When I paint, I feel like a choreographer pausing the dance of shadow, light and color at the precise moment when all of them are in their full expression. To find that full expression of each component of the dance, I use Master’s and Mische Techniques and labor over my paintings for months or years. I started ‘disappearing’ while painting as a young girl and the effects of the creative process on the brain have captivated me ever since. Deep meditation is the only thing I have been able to relate to these experiences. Now I am an artist obsessed with neuroscience and how art effects the brain. I am a painting teacher and Certified Therapeutic Arts Coach. I guide people in personal liberation through tools of the the mind and imagination. I work with individuals and business teams.

The Collections

I am driven by process, much more than by perfection or consistency. I have always loved experimenting and discovering new methods of production, which is why I chose to get a degree in Industrial Design. My degree launched me into a rewarding, thirty year career of architectural lighting design. In 2016, I retired and set up an art studio, Stixel Studios, a mash-up of pixels and stitches, in my home. I began creating art in as many mediums as I could get my hands on, using any new process I learned about. I have created works in oils, acrylics, pastels, paper, fabric, wood, glass, plaster, airbrush, inks, and various printing techniques.

I conceive of my art in collections. I never imagine a one-off piece: it is always as a family of works that relate to one another.  During this month’s art walk I will be displaying pieces of my Ocean Grunge, Winsome and the Well-Played Collections. I hope you enjoy them and they bring you half the enjoyment they gave me to make them.

The colors of the world pull me, and I respond. Sometimes it’s the way light filters through the branches of a tree or the sharp contrast of a building against a baby-blue sky. My style, Glob Art, blends traditional painting with sculptural techniques, inviting both creative expression and technical precision. I enjoy the challenge of capturing the colors that captivate me while working the layers until they balance and counterbalance each other just right. The moment I know a piece is complete is when it offers a different experience up close than it does from far away.
