Susan Denini has vocals that can lie amongst the clouds with the saints or in the rich delta mud. Jack Bradbury produces guitar work that can elicit a whiskey drenched bar room or a reverent moment in the choir loft with the flick of a finger. Together they form the acoustic duo, My Real Job.  For the past twenty years they have shared the stage in various bands and musical events. Little has changed but everything is fresh and new. Their friendship continues to be the keystone of their musical partnership and they continue to share their passion for sounds from Muscle Shoals to the Vatican. In this incarnation as My Real Job, they have stripped their sound back to its most basic and pure form. With just a guitar and a voice they convey timeless stories and melodies that will linger long after the final note fades.

Rachel Bender INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm

Rachel Bender is a mixed media visual artist living in West Seattle. She believes color is joy, and that life should embrace the bold and whimsical. Rachel is drawn to bright color palettes but often leans into the deeper blues and violets. The flow and movement and fleeting nature of water, wind, ribbons, bubbles, light, and sacred geometry can be seen throughout her work. Rachel enjoys experimenting with different styles; her landscapes are often inspired by Fauvism, although most of her abstract paintings are inspired by Paul Signac and other neo-impressionist artists, as well as Fahrelnissa Zeid and Morris Louis.

Dan Jacobs INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm

Life at 3 Miles an Hour

A Japanese theologian once wrote that he believed God moves at 3 miles an hour, which is the average speed of a human walking.  I believe that most of us miss out on a great deal of life because we are moving through our lives much faster than that. I have embraced walking as a way of effectively observing what may otherwise remain hidden from a casual glance.  My images reflect the different nuances, unique perspectives, and hidden surprises that are only evident while walking the neighborhoods and landscapes we more often crash through on the way to our assumed destinations.

The Place We Live

“The Place We Live” is a reflection of my deep appreciation for residential architecture and interior spaces. Working with wood veneers opens up endless possibilities for exploring texture, depth, and contrast. I’m drawn to the challenge—like assembling a puzzle without a reference image—where each piece of wood becomes part of a larger narrative.

By reimagining this traditional furniture-making craft through a contemporary lens, I aim to create something both familiar and entirely new.

Christian Pearson, Gabi Kappes and Jody Wally INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-9pm.

The Artists of Rain City Clay

Rain City Clay in West Seattle is a vibrant, creative community that offers everything from beginning pottery classes to firing services for local potters. Rain City Clay, along with its sister studio, Rat City Studios in White Center, brings people together with shared experiences and engage and build community through clay.

Christian Pearson, Gabi Kappes, and Jody Wallace are three artists from Rain City Clay who will be displaying some of their ceramic creations at John L. Scott this Thursday, June 12 for ArtWalk.

Christian Pearson is a ceramic Artist and affiliate member at Rain City Clay in Arbor heights. He is drawn to the organic nature of clay and the meditative process of transforming it into streamlined yet evocative forms through subtle alterations, carving, and texture.

Monsters aren’t always scary. Gabi Kappes creates abstract and exaggerated figures that tell stories about our “inner demons.” She explores the duality between what we show on the outside versus what we feel on the inside — playing with the juxtaposition of fear and joy, chaos and calm, and dark and light. She is inspired by free flowing shapes and forms that you see in nature and she finds beauty in natural and exposed surfaces.

Plus, musician Mark Myzen will be on hand playing tunes throughout the evening.

Sarah Ann Harris Hamilton INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm

Remember the Forgotten

Sarah Ann Hamilton is a resilient survivor, passionate advocate, and fierce protector of those finding their way out of darkness. A survivor of human trafficking, domestic violence, and addiction, Sarah Ann has turned her pain into purpose. Her journey of healing fuels her work as the Director of Survivor Services and co-founder of The More We Love, an organization dedicated to walking alongside survivors with dignity, compassion, and action.

Sarah Ann’s leadership is rooted in radical empathy, authenticity, and a deep belief that healing begins with being seen and heard. She leads with a “boots-on-the-ground” approach — never asking anyone to do something she wouldn’t do herself — and works to elevate survivor voices in every space she enters. She is unwavering in her belief that those with lived experience are the real experts and is fiercely committed to creating pathways for survivors to lead.

As an artist, Sarah Ann uses creative expression to process pain and inspire healing. Her debut show, H.O.E. — Honored Over Everything, debuted at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology, offering an unflinching, redemptive look at survival, faith, and reclaiming identity. Her work has sparked conversations about shame, freedom, and what it means to rise. Beyond direct service, Sarah Ann has helped influence legislation aimed at holding traffickers and buyers accountable, advocating for laws that protect and empower survivors. Her advocacy is loud, informed, and rooted in love — for the women and families she serves, and for the future she refuses to stop fighting for. A proud mother, grandmother, and wife, Sarah Ann brings the same fierce love to her family that she brings to her work. Whether she’s sitting in a courtroom, cleaning rooms in emergency housing, or walking someone through their next brave step — she is known for reminding everyone she meets: You are not alone. You are loved. And you can rise.

Beverley K Hill INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm. Bev Hill was selected as the Featured Artist of Q2.

The Collections

I am driven by process, much more than by perfection or consistency. I have always loved experimenting and discovering new methods of production, which is why I chose to get a degree in Industrial Design. My degree launched me into a rewarding, thirty year career of architectural lighting design. In 2016, I retired and set up an art studio, Stixel Studios, a mash-up of pixels and stitches. I began creating art in as many mediums as I could get my hands on, using any new process I learned about. I have created works in oils, acrylics, pastels, paper, fabric, wood, glass, plaster, airbrush, inks, and various printing techniques. I conceive of my art in collections. I never imagine a one-off piece: it is always as a family of works that relate to one another.  I will debut my new collection, Industrial Scouting, during this Art Walk and I will continue to display pieces of my Ocean Grunge, Winsome and the Well-Played Collections. I hope you enjoy them and they bring you half the enjoyment they gave me to make them.

The images below are from the Well Played Collection. The child handing the woman flowers, Spring Offerings, was the piece that was selected for the art walk posters for this April, May, and June. The poster is shown at the beginning of this post.

Dinah Brein INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5:30pm-8:00pm

Dinah Brein is a Seattle-based artist and photographer who brings a playful, untrained eye to bold, whimsical worlds filled with color, humor, and heart. “What I do isn’t fine art – it’s FUN ART.  A longtime songwriter and producer for film, TV, and radio, she began creating visual art during the pandemic not with formal training, but with playful storytelling and a tongue firmly planted in cheek. I picked up a paintbrush and a camera—not to perfect anything, but to explore. I gave myself permission to be irreverent, colorful, funny, and free.  Her images are layered with dramatic color, and surreal effects. The result: are joyful, quirky, a little offbeat, and entirely her.

Cody Esp INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-9pm

My name is Cody, and I am an artist primarily working in paint. I hold a degree in Fine Art and Feminism from Humboldt State University (2011). My artistic journey has evolved from early work and small commissions after graduation to a focus on watercolor painting, which allowed me to dedicate more time to my art.

In 2022, I expanded my practice to include mural painting. Since completing my first city-commissioned mural at the local skate park, I have undertaken five additional city murals and eight private commissions. My mural work frequently incorporates themes of hands, flowers, and the mountain landscape. I pride myself on my adaptability and my commitment to understanding and fulfilling the vision of my clients. I have experience painting on diverse surfaces, both indoors and outdoors, ranging from smooth walls to corrugated metal. Clients consistently describe me as easy to collaborate with, enthusiastic, and efficient, with many returning for subsequent projects within six months, which I believe speaks to the value and impact of my artwork.

Laurie Barmore BUSINESS HOUR DISPLAY 2pm – 7pm. Artist will not be able to attend.

Whispers from the Unseen
In my current work, I explore the connection between the inner world and its outward expression. Art serves as a portal to the unseen, revealing the hidden layers of experience. Every story begins in darkness and gradually takes shape in the visible world. The paintings evolve through a process of observation and imagination, weaving together the physical world with the hidden realms of mind, soul, and spirit – a space where both flow seamlessly into one another.

Each painting begins on a textured surface, where I work intuitively, letting my hands move freely across the canvas. Gestural marks and organic forms, line, and dynamic color emerge from memory, impressions, and a deep connection to nature. Like roots extending their tendrils, these elements create a sense of depth. While my work doesn’t directly depict nature, I often draw on metaphors found within it to explore the human experience.

Through this process, I uncover what is quietly germinating at my core. The finished painting is meant to be felt, rather than analyzed intellectually. Contact – (408)425-2600

Artist Bio:

“Painting is a way for me to interact with my world, both inner and outer, to revel in the mysterious connections, and to share my perspective with you.”

Laurie Barmore is an abstract painter working primarily in acrylics.  Her work is a combination of external inspiration (nature, poetry, experiences) and her inner life and imagination.  She uses movement, bold color, and texture to express her emotions and interpretive ideas.      Laurie was born in New York, but grew up in the coastal mountains of California.  She graduated from San Jose State University with a BS in Nursing and the sciences have influenced her art.  Her call to the visual arts developed over time and she studied under Sir John Porter with her personal style developing through extensive practice and self- study.      Laurie  moved to the Pacific North West five years ago and currently lives and paints in Bremerton, Washington. She shows her work through 1202Contemporary, Collective Visions Gallery, and Art Fairs. You can see her work this summer at the Seattle Art Fair and the Bellevue Art Fair.

Museful Purpose BUSINESS HOUR DISPLAY ONLY 5pm- 7pm. Artist will be in attendance during Art Walk.

The colors of the world pull me, and I respond. Sometimes it’s the way light filters through the branches of a tree or the sharp contrast of a building against a baby-blue sky. My style, Glob Art, blends traditional painting with sculptural techniques, inviting both creative expression and technical precision. I enjoy the challenge of capturing the colors that captivate me while working the layers until they balance and counterbalance each other just right. The moment I know a piece is complete is when it offers a different experience up close than it does from far away.

David comes from a family of artists born and raised in the Puget Sound area. This installation is a result of his love for the Pacific Northwest, and his love of art. Nature is the artist. Every print is a unique, hand burnished original. And all of the tree stumps used to create the printed pieces were found, donated, or borrowed from the PNW.
