Joelle Hagen BUSINESS HOUR DISPLAY ONLY 5pm-8pm
Sentinels – A walk amongst trees
Joelle is a West Seattle-based watercolor artist who views whimsy as a radical act against oppression. She is deeply inspired by community and the natural world, especially the ecology of the PNW. With only starting to draw and paint in the past decade, Joelle believes it’s never too late to try something new and discover a new layer of yourself. She can often be found lollygagging around in Schmitz Park Preserve with her field magnifying glass and little white dog, Ziggy.
The Log House Museum is a City of Seattle Historic Landmark. It is owned and operated by the Southwest Seattle Historical Society. The Log House Museum is currently showing two exhibits, Seattle’s Forest, on the geological, indigenous, industrial, and political history of the West Duwamish Greenbelt and Seattle Teriyaki, on the origins and future of Seattle’s famous dish, developed by a Highline Big Picture Intern with SWSHS.

Achieving Ataraxia
Achieving Ataraxia explores the pursuit of inner resilience and peace through color and texture. Using cold wax and oil paints, I create layered, intuitive compositions inspired by nature. Each color serves a purpose—earth tones ground us, blues and greens soothe, and deeper hues invite reflection. Through the tactile qualities of cold wax, I invite the viewer to pause and engage. This work seeks to capture the tranquility that nature offers and the emotional power that specific colors bring to our lives. I invite you to get lost in an image and find your own sense of ataraxia.”

Reverie – Voices in Monochrome
Step into a world where shades of black and white are not mere colors but vessels for myriad emotions, thoughts, and narratives. Within the series, “Reverie – Voices in Monochrome”, each piece serves as a window into the subconscious, where whispers of emotion and thought find expression in subtle gradients of black and white.
Through a mastery of form and texture, art becomes a portal to the intangible landscapes of the mind. Let the monochromatic palette ignite your imagination, prompting contemplation and reflection on the complexities of the human experience where shades of gray whisper secrets untold. Embark on a voyage of discovery, where the unseen becomes visible and the whispers of the mind find a voice through the language of art.

My work contemplates the transformative process in the natural world and celebrates the nuance and surprises found in the ‘ordinary’. Cody Esp INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-9pm
My name is Cody, and I am an artist primarily working in paint. I hold a degree in Fine Art and Feminism from Humboldt State University (2011). My artistic journey has evolved from early work and small commissions after graduation to a focus on watercolor painting, which allowed me to dedicate more time to my art.
In 2022, I expanded my practice to include mural painting. Since completing my first city-commissioned mural at the local skate park, I have undertaken five additional city murals and eight private commissions. My mural work frequently incorporates themes of hands, flowers, and the mountain landscape. I pride myself on my adaptability and my commitment to understanding and fulfilling the vision of my clients. I have experience painting on diverse surfaces, both indoors and outdoors, ranging from smooth walls to corrugated metal. Clients consistently describe me as easy to collaborate with, enthusiastic, and efficient, with many returning for subsequent projects within six months, which I believe speaks to the value and impact of my artwork.

Laurie Barmore BUSINESS HOUR DISPLAY 2pm – 7pm. Artist will not be able to attend.
Whispers from the Unseen
In my current work, I explore the connection between the inner world and its outward expression. Art serves as a portal to the unseen, revealing the hidden layers of experience. Every story begins in darkness and gradually takes shape in the visible world. The paintings evolve through a process of observation and imagination, weaving together the physical world with the hidden realms of mind, soul, and spirit – a space where both flow seamlessly into one another.
Each painting begins on a textured surface, where I work intuitively, letting my hands move freely across the canvas. Gestural marks and organic forms, line, and dynamic color emerge from memory, impressions, and a deep connection to nature. Like roots extending their tendrils, these elements create a sense of depth. While my work doesn’t directly depict nature, I often draw on metaphors found within it to explore the human experience.
Through this process, I uncover what is quietly germinating at my core. The finished painting is meant to be felt, rather than analyzed intellectually. Contact – (408)425-2600
Artist Bio:
Painting is a way for me to interact with my world, both inner and outer, to revel in the mysterious connections, and to share my perspective with you.” Laurie Barmore is an abstract painter working primarily in acrylics. She uses movement, bold color, and texture to express her emotions and interpretive ideas. Laurie was born in New York, but grew up in the coastal mountains of California. She graduated from San Jose State University with a BS in Nursing and the sciences have influenced her art. Her call to the visual arts developed over time and she studied under Sir John Porter with her personal style developing through extensive practice and self- study. Museful Purpose BUSINESS HOUR DISPLAY ONLY 5pm- 7pm. Artist will be in attendance during Art Walk.
The colors of the world pull me, and I respond. Sometimes it’s the way light filters through the branches of a tree or the sharp contrast of a building against a baby-blue sky. My style, Glob Art, blends traditional painting with sculptural techniques, inviting both creative expression and technical precision. I enjoy the challenge of capturing the colors that captivate me while working the layers until they balance and counterbalance each other just right. The moment I know a piece is complete is when it offers a different experience up close than it does from far away.
