September 11 Art Walk in Pictures

September’s Art Walk marked new beginnings, a return to introspection and time spent indoors with the new school year. After a refreshing reset during vacation, West Seattle artists got back to work, creating and crafting new pieces ready to share for the new season ahead.

Art of Music included these fantastic shows:

Trevor Ras @ Welcome Road Winery, Katydids @ Verity Credit Union, Taryn Hadfield @ Darby Winery, and Bob Antolin/Chet Corpt Duo @ Alki Arts

In Admiral neighborhood, Suzanne Uschold displayed her work at Wend, Jett Landscape and Architecture Patricia Exworthy showed her watercolors. At West Seattle Grounds, Michael Proult pieces featured thought provoking and bold subjects present in everyday experiences.

Alaska Junction was bustling with onlookers. At Verity, Jon Couch at Verity was so genuine and excited to be showing his work, he was the poster cover 2 quarters ago! Katydids musical accompaniment was also fantastic, and they debuted in the Junction at Summer Fest at Molly Moons.

The lovely Michelle Hurteau was showing her abstracts at Windermere. The photo included below displays a work that was inspired by things she sees in her backyard, such as trees, flowers, hummingbirds. Talarico’s artist this month is KAM. Ann McClary was showing watercolors at the Discovery Shop. She paints whatever inspires her and donates any sale to The Discovery Shop: how cool is that. Eugene Lee is a photographer, and all his photos in the show are from West Seattle. He has an amazing eye and really enjoys doing sunsets in black and white.

In Morgan Junction, there were some great shows as well. At Nor Architecture, poster artist Drew Dost’s paintings were a treat, she has won many awards for her work. The group show over at Alki Arts displayed some gorgeous works by Joanne Shellan, Lezlie Jane, Chris Holt, Christine Sharp. Todd Horton’s work on display at Inner Space Designs very aptly expresses a sense of the PNW through 3-D and 2-D works. And, at Viscon, featured artists from the West Seattle Art Tour were previewing their work, ahead of the Tour which will be held September 20-21. At West Seattle Nursery, Carmen Leslie showed up with a series in RED, in which she ‘builds’ her paintings through a meditative layered process.

Our team of volunteer Art Walk photographers did a wonderful job of capturing the ambiance of the evening as well as the art and artists. Thank you, Jon, John, Mia, Molly, and Stacie. We couldn’t do this without you! If you weren’t able to come out, we hope you take a moment to check out photos of the receptions below or on social media. Or, better yet, come see the shows yourself. Most of the artwork featured will be up all month long, so do find time to visit these venues.
