Matthew Hoover INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm

Native to the Pacific Northwest, Matthew D. Hoover is influenced by a great appreciation for the outdoors. Paintings are often described as impressionistic landscapes, drawing viewers in for a closer review.  Creativity is fueled from decades spent passionately capturing the essence of daily life in the Pacific Northwest as a semi-professional documentary photographer, as well as travels. Time spent through Southern France and the Tuscany area of Italy is a wellspring of inspiration. The scenery is rich, featuring a mix of both straightforward and intricate elements of colors and harmony. From a distance, you can easily identify the compositions, or at least relate to them visually. However, as you move closer, you start to uncover a much more intricate combination of colors intertwined throughout.

The artist employs a unique painting style, mixing colors directly on the canvas as the work progresses in a multitude of layers, rather than pre-mixing on a palette. Beyond simply layering colors, the dab-dab hand motion creates a dynamic push-and-pull effect between adjacent wet paint hues as it moves across the surface. The resulting colors in the finished pieces are rich and textured. Even within paintings of stormy seas – there is a common sense of a comfort and peace as scenes trigger memories of a unique place or time. The same with vista views, or meadows and valleys.

Reflect upon them as ‘visual portals’ to where you would rather be on a hectic day.

Dan Jacobs INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm Dan is the Art Walks Featured Artist of Q4

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”  Ferris Bueller

A Japanese theologian once wrote that he believed God moves at 3 miles an hour, which is the average speed of a human walking.  I believe that most of us miss out on a great deal of life because we are moving through our lives much faster than that. I have embraced walking as a way of effectively observing what may otherwise remain hidden from a casual glance.  My images reflect the different nuances, unique perspectives, and hidden surprises that are only evident while walking the neighborhoods and landscapes we more often crash through on the way to our assumed destinations. You may not remember these specific images down the road, but I hope they will inspire you to consider practicing your own version of life at 3 miles an hour.

More about Suzanne Uschold:

The Pacific Northwest offers endless inspiration for my art with its majestic mountains, towering evergreens, crashing waves, roaring rivers and beautiful wildlife. My husband and I enjoy capturing this beauty with our cameras as we walk around our local parks and gardens or go on scenic drives. I love the challenge of turning a photo into a
quilt using a variety of techniques including collage, applique, thread painting and free motion quilting. While some art quilters embellish their work with paint, I prefer to “paint” my quilts, using only fabric and thread, with the occasional addition of lace, cheesecloth or even cotton balls.

Eugene Lee INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm

After Work

I’m a Seattle-based photographer with a background in humanitarian work, where I spent years documenting communities shaped by struggle, resilience, and quiet acts of hope. Those experiences taught me to move gently and see with intention—lessons that continue to guide how I photograph today. In my current series, After Work, I turn my lens toward the quiet reach of nature within the city. Shot entirely in West Seattle parks, these photographs explore light, shape, and atmosphere—candid scenes of people winding down, finding stillness, and breathing in at the end of the day. They’re familiar places. Maybe you’ll even recognize a few. I hope these photographs remind you of your own favorite corner of nature here in West Seattle.

Cody Esp INDOORS SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-9pm

My name is Cody, and I am an artist primarily working in paint. I hold a degree in Fine Art and Feminism from Humboldt State University (2011). My artistic journey has evolved from early work and small commissions after graduation to a focus on watercolor painting, which allowed me to dedicate more time to my art.

In 2022, I expanded my practice to include mural painting. Since completing my first city-commissioned mural at the local skate park, I have undertaken five additional city murals and eight private commissions. My mural work frequently incorporates themes of hands, flowers, and the mountain landscape. I pride myself on my adaptability and my commitment to understanding and fulfilling the vision of my clients. I have experience painting on diverse surfaces, both indoors and outdoors, ranging from smooth walls to corrugated metal. Clients consistently describe me as easy to collaborate with, enthusiastic, and efficient, with many returning for subsequent projects within six months, which I believe speaks to the value and impact of my artwork.

Billy Kincaid INDOOR SHOW & RECEPTION 5pm-8pm.

Born and raised in Seattle. Self taught. Mediums I use: acrylic, oil finishes, plaster.
I tend to like larger pieces, small pieces are a challenge for me. How do I know when a painting is finished? A painting isn’t finished until it FEELS finished. I strive for depth and texture. I don’t title anything because I believe it puts pressure on the viewer to try and see/feel what I see/feel.  They should be able to look at a painting and decide on their own how it makes them feel. We all know art is personal and without a title i thinks it easier to do so. Because I tend to be all over the board, I wouldn’t even know how to describe my paint style . I guess I’ll l leave that up to you–Contemporary? Modern? Abstract ? Surreal?  All of my favorites,  “Jack of all styles, master of none “
