Priyanka Parmanand INDOORS+RECEPTION 5pm-8pm ***with live painting during reception!

Bloom Like A Flower

I am a self-taught artist living in Issaquah, WA. While growing up, I frequently captured the world around me in sketches that spanned across various art forms. As a child, Art was something I loved to do in my free time but I never thought it could be anything more than that. I was part of a society where everyone around me was pursuing a career in science, engineering or medicine. I didn’t pursue the callings of my heart and conformed to the path that society had laid out for me. I pursued my Masters in Business Management and worked in the corporate world for few years. Little did I know that I would ultimately pursue my passion as a profession.

In 2008, I moved to the US and met my Art mentor who was an epitome of someone following her heart. She encouraged me to answer my calling and I immersed myself in studying different art forms. This process solidified my liking for abstract form that gave me the freedom to reflect my thoughts and emotions which is not bound by the visual reality.

I carved out a unique abstract style that is bold and vibrant. My art gives hope and is full of exciting colors and textures which represents positive energy and spirit towards life. Today I actively participate in local art exhibitions and love being an art instructor in schools, local art galleries and senior centers.

Priyanka will have her abstract flower art displayed on walls plus bookmarks ($5 for two), cards and prints for sale.

Alex Trapp INDOORS+RECEPTION, 12pm-8pm

Mt. Rainier and the Valley Below

Alex Trapp is an award winning and published Contemporary American Impressionist painter.  As a longtime resident of Seattle, WA, Alex spends many of the wet months painting in his studio bringing to life memories of the seasons before. “I use plein air studies I create in the field to remind me of a time and place from the seasons before. I work to bring those feelings back to life in the studio in order to offer the viewer a visual poem.”

During the dry season Alex can be found painting the landscape En Plein Air in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. “I paint anything that I find of interest, but mostly I’m inspired by nature. I appreciate the context of learning from it. The challenges that come with painting En Plein Air are complex, to say the least, but I like that. It’s an endless love of learning.”

As a self-taught artist, Alex looks to the history books, paintings, and writings of impressionist masters like Edgar Payne, Sergei Bongart, and Claude Monet. “I’m influenced by a number of American, Russian, and French Impressionists. My personal intent in landscape painting is to stay true to the harmony of nature as I see it while at the same time, attempting to achieve a visual melody for the viewer to experience through design, light and color.

ART OF MUSIC – ADMIRAL LOCATION

Deb McCarroll BUSINESS HOURS ONLY (Permanent collection)

Deb McCarroll’s bold work embodies the Northwest’s regional culture. Patterns are created with Seattle’s ubiquitous falling rain. Paper is integrated into wet paint and then set on fire. Metal leaf is frequently woven into scenes and selectively oxidized with acid to add patinas in glittering greens and browns. Local flora and fauna are painted in startling realism and then pared with raw abstract practices.

I am endlessly inspired by nature, change, and perception. As an artist, I want my pieces to transport people to beautiful places in their own mind. I believe that each part of the process of creating and viewing art is deeply therapeutic. Never being a particularly organized or neat person, I have found the greatest satisfaction from collage and acrylic painting. Each are very forgiving and effectively allow me to translate my inner life onto the physical.”

Group Show INDOORS + RECEPTION 5pm til late

Come meet new Fogue Gallery artists as well as Fogue favorites!

Our September guest artist Reeve Washburn is a native Manhattanite, fantastic coordinator of the @wsartwalk, and an emerging fine artist out of a career in graphics and brand design.

“I like structure. I’m good with order and great with routines. It grounds me and is calming. When I started painting, it was scary to be loose and free with my technique, even though I wanted to be in that visual space. The more I explore, the more I understand the duality of my expression, and embrace the contrasts. I’m learning that structure can hold us up, versus hold us in.” – Reeve Washburn

Kel Denke INDOORS+RECEPTION, 6-7pm

I was born with a messy mind, and most of my life, I have sought to make sense of all the chatter upstairs. I have long-been a lazy, and uptight, dabbler in Buddhism, and sometime in the ’90’s, I accidentally drew a one-line, meditating—if not for the soft form— stick figure. The simple, swoopy lines were soothing to draw, and my rotund bodhisattva has stayed with me through the years, hiding in a dorm room deep in my my brain.

Recently, I was feeling creatively stagnant with both camera and pen, so I picked up a sketch book and a pencil. Once again, my simple, round friend appeared on the paper, and I invited her to stay. I doodled her over and over again, and began to build stream-of-consciousness worlds around her.

The original doodles have expanded into these worlds,  and the miniature moments on these canvases are what happens when I let go of all judgment. In these moments, I am judging nothing.  I have come to trust myself, and am experiencing an unprecedented freedom in this mixed-media process.

Thank you for your interest, and welcome to my messy mind.

My name is Jaehd (Jade). I am a 24 year old artist from Seattle, WA. Creating has always been my passion. Over the years I have been working hard to perfect my craft; and I hope you can see that with all my work! I appreciate everyone who has inspired me to pursue my passion and all who are new to my work, I wouldn’t be here without any of you. I have come extremely far in this journey and I am grateful for all that has come and all that will come.
But who am I really? I am a heart on the sleeve, knowledge hungry Gemini; that loves anime and video games. I enjoy most genres of music and learning about crystals, plants, astrology, numerology, and tarot. A couple life goals for me are to learn to speak Japanese and travel the world. I am a proud plant and cat mama. I hope to have a plant filled home and eventually expand my garden and grow many veggies and fruits. I am someone who loves to try a bit of everything! Switching things up is something that’s pretty important to keep my ever-evolving Gemini soul at rest. I am very multi-faceted and love to create so many different things and work with different mediums.
Welcome to my creative journey, hope you stick around and see what goes down! ^-^
