The sun made a special appearance just in time for West Seattle Art Walk, bringing longer days and drawn-out evenings perfect for perusing the local art at our fine West Seattle establishments.

The crowds were out and enjoying the warmer and sunnier weather tonight, including at Forever Young Aesthetics where an open door beckoned guests inside to stop and stay awhile to enjoy the art of Jennifer Leigh Harrison. Her minimalist abstract pieces brought a welcomed sense of calm to the evening while the conversation around the art was electric. Just down the street at Jett Landscape + Design, Franklin Stauffer was showing off his photography of die-cast cars. A student at West Seattle High, Stauffer’s play with perspective and indeed the playfulness of his pieces drew a sizable crowd.

West Seattle Grounds hosted Stephanie Scott with her divine astrological creations, while nearby Diane Bellisario represented her wood-crafted masterpieces at Hawthorne Massage. Good Society featured Michelle Sutterfield’s latest body of work and self-taught Seattle native Rance Holiman displayed beautiful works in oil at West Seattle Realty

It was a wonderful evening to welcome Sebastiano’s Natural Wines to Art Walk! Fresh off a successful show last month next door at Soiree, David Egelhoff’s (also of Digi-Prim) clean and pointed tally mark pieces created a colorful backdrop for an evening of great wines, vibes, and conversation at Sebastiano’s new bar.

Next door at Soiree, Art Walk regular Jenna Brechbiel brought her elegant and fun watercolor works for all to enjoy and indeed guests did enjoy it because her pieces were selling fast. In vibrant hues of every color, the birds, bees, and flowers that are often the subject of Jenna’s work perfectly mirrored the energy of spring outside.

Rounding out the ”Hinds Junction” at Art Walk this fine spring night, Wend hosted two fantastic female artists. West Seattle artist Chandra Sandoval brought bold visually arresting photography to Wend’s gallery walls while MODhome Ceramics’s Nicole Pepper’s sgraffito ceramics in blues and whites called us all to beauty of Elliot Bay.

Down in Alaska Junction, Verity Credit Union featured the beautifully haunting work of Kevin Ducoing. His series is a contemplation of what trees think of humans, and how we create buildings out of the skeletons of the trees. John Woodruff’s collection of photographs is simple yet stunning, and people love his work, on display at the ever-popular John L. Scott which also featured Girl Scout Cookie sales as a bonus.

MachLoft Guest House hosted an impressive collection of artists of all different mediums. Glass blowing, quilting, painting, and writing are just a few of the pieces to see in this unexpected find off the beaten path. Not to be missed! Lars Gesing was showing off new photos from Kauai that will make incredible stills for a home. The tranquility and eye that Lars finds in the everyday are both beautiful and extraordinary.

Discovery Shop had a steady stream of visitors checking out the clothing deals and the art! Artist Brooke Borcherding’s paintings spread color up and down the halls and side rooms at Windermere. There was a real party at Jet City with busy craft vendors and arty, including our featured artist, Suzanne Uschold!

One of our newest businesses, West Seattle Salon went all out last night. In addition to an amazing charcuterie board and wines from Pine Lake Cellars across the street, they had their own DJ on the porch creating a festive and welcoming vibe. Their featured artist, Christopher Coleman, was a delight and his metallic works added a luster to the chic salon halls. The crowd that gathered was most appreciative.

Right across the way from the Salon, Pine Lake Cellars was in fine form, pairing their wonderful wines with Seafoam Chocolate from local chocolatier Michelle Auld. Fire pit blazing and Art Walk attendees gathering… it was a perfect night to be in Morgan Junction.

Doll Parts Collective played host to Lilia Deering of Welcome Gnome. Her whimsical creations graced the walls and immediately enticed buyers who were seen admiring the earrings, bolo ties, colorful framed mirrors, and block-printed clothing. Also at Doll Parts was World’s End Beverage Catering, a charming and talented group of women creating drinks with fresh and intensely delicious flavor combinations. Canna West featured their laid-back and friendly staff with flowing and energetic artwork. Viscon Cellars’ atmosphere was cozy and convivial with the work of Michael A. Knutson. West Seattle Cellars was friendly and inviting, with lots of people from the community out to taste wine and see Steffanie Lorig’s work, of course! Alki Arts’ group show was bright and beautiful with lots of space to mingle.

Our team of volunteer Art Walk photographers did a wonderful job of capturing the ambiance of the evening as well as the art and artists. Thank you, Carole, Jacquie, Jill, Meagan, Mia, Molly, and Yuna. We couldn’t do this without you! If you weren’t able to come out, we hope you take a moment to check out photos of the receptions below or on social media. Or, better yet, come see the shows yourself. Most of the artwork featured will be up all month long, so do find time to visit these venues.
