The West Seattle Art Walk brought our local businesses alive with energy and inspiration, as artists and onlookers enjoyed a lovely April evening. With a mix of rain, sun, and temperatures that hovered between warm and cool, it couldn’t have been a more Seattle-esque spring experience. It was exciting to see everyone out enjoying each other and supporting our artists.

At Alaska Junction, Hannah Fisher, an NAR Green Designated Realtor, hosted an amazing, welcoming reception at John L. Scott for self-described “Professional Wood Man”, artist Jeff Warren. Jeff’s stunning and functional work showcases the beauty of trees in their natural state, yet transformed to enjoy as tables, chairs or other functional objects.

David Amaya, visual artist who specializes in watercolor and acrylic painting as well as photography, was a big draw at Rush Hour. The owners and staff at Rush Hour are happy to showcase artists whose work parallels well with the overall great vibe and merchandise of the store. After looking at the art, it’s fun to see the incredible variety of shoes (artworks themselves) and clothing available in the store. A must see in the Junction!

The open doors of Verity Credit Union on Art Walk night always lead into a lovely space for showcasing art. Cesar de la Torre, a Community Branch Manager at Verity, is supportive of local artists and was happy to show the work of painter David Mampel during this April Art Walk evening. David’s work, with pieces that include exuberant, detailed storytelling as well as exploration of cosmic themes enhanced the space within Verity.

At Compass Realty, T. Frick, a longtime favorite Northwest artist, revealed a new series of textured, monochromatic pieces that draw the viewer in while holding the eye to explore the intriguing line and form revealed within the painting. Frick’s new series of abstract paintings stirred a lot of interest and conversation among people visiting Compass, and of course Compass’ incredible, delicious food and beverage spread is always a big draw, so arrive early! Tonight’s best treat? Fabulous “black and white” cookies.

Arts West was abuzz with activity of those enjoying the installation and amazing variety presented by the artist who spoke of the pain she experienced in creating art about the tragedies in Iran and her reactions to them. At Jet City Labs, a variety of bold and colorful art incorporated pieces from plant to pottery to candle to iconic beauties. Vibrant and beautiful images abound. The group show at Jet City is always so fun to see!

ACS Discovery Shop artist Sindi Somers presented a bright and impressionistic vision of life and Spring. Dazzling color combos and warm images sparked lovely chats about what the images represented. At Doll Parts Collective the fresh erotic art stimulated a vivid discussion of Seattle lifestyles, with lots of wonderful, playful images on display to stimulate the convo!

Everyone was all smiles at West Seattle Cellars where the wine and conversation were flowing. The joy of Sarah C.B. Guthrie’s art was contagious. Gallery guests at Alki Arts were treated to another great show: “Outside In,” (celebrating the art of nature) features the art of Vanessa Lanza, Andy McConnell, Lisa, Sweo Eul, Kassie Hennessey, Ricardo Duque, Debbie Bianchi and David Harrison. INNER SPACE DESIGNS was crowded with admirers of Natasha Reali. Her acrylic series, “Into the Void,” captivated and elevated the energy of those who gathered.

Up in Admiral, there was so much going on, it was hard for us to capture it all! B line dot’s graphic paintings drew a huge crowd over at West Seattle Grounds, with the music of Jennifer Sandoval overlapping with laughter and energy spilling out into the street.

Kingtide Ink made their Art Walk debut with collage works incorporating vintage graphics from artist Robert Kinsey, and shelves lined with Emily Criswell’s Coupe Ceramics. They had a steady stream of visitors throughout the night, and we got a behind-the-scenes look at the neighborhood tattoo shop.

Hawthorne Massage hosted AW’s quarterly featured artist Aude Arutunian who almost sold out of her many inspirational works of color which decorated the walls. Over at West Seattle Realty the festivities were underway with artist Autumn Tranquilino’s mythic dream inspired paintings displayed for many onlookers who enjoyed the plentiful hors d’oeuvres offered.

At Wend, Alex Seitz is offering a display of living sculptures which are up for April, so be sure to stop by before they’re gone!

Our team of volunteer Art Walk photographers did a wonderful job of capturing the ambiance of the evening as well as the art and artists. Thank you, Carole, Helen, Jacquie, Mia, Michelle, and Reeve. We couldn’t do this without you! If you weren’t able to come out, we hope you take a moment to check out photos of the receptions below or on social media. Or, better yet, come see the shows yourself. Most of the artwork featured will be up all month long, so do find time to visit these venues.
